A long time ago before the renaissance
There was a jester named Joe
He loved a girl named Julia
She was the princess you know

And everybody laughed at Joe
Even when he wasn't performing anymore

Now everybody in the little town
Thought that Joe was a joke
When he claimed his love for Julia
They threw him in the moat

How quickly people turn on you
When you don't entertain their point of view

Now Joe he wasn't a prince you see
He didn't fit the prerequisite
But he believed in love between
A beautiful girl and an idiot

Now Joe performed every Saturday night
For the king and his wife
But tonight the king threw Joe to the lions
And made him fight for his life

And everybody laughed at Joe
Even when he wasn't performing anymore

Suddenly they all heard a scream
They turned their heads to see
Julia pleading with the king
To set the jester free

The kind just laughed but then said "no"
Julia jumped the wall to die with Joe

Now Joe he wasn't a prince you see
He didn't fit the prerequisite
But he believed in love between
A beautiful girl and an idiot
